Partikulära luftföroreningar i Mali - FOI

Results showed that PM2.5 concentrations decreased substantially, 52% over the 12-year period (1989-2000), whereas PM2.5-10 concentrations increased by approximately 50% in the first 5 years and then decreased by a similar percentage over the following 7 years. These decreases were evident even after controlling for significant climatic effects. For PM2.5, short-term exposures (up to 24-hours duration) have been associated with premature mortality, increased hospital admissions for heart or lung causes, acute and chronic bronchitis, asthma attacks, emergency room visits, respiratory symptoms, and restricted activity days. The methodology of PM2.5 monitoring has recently been reviewed and a European Standard describing a reference method to determine PM2.5 in ambient air is currently elaborated by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This workshop was convened to review various methods for PM2.5 and PM10 monitoring, their comparability and quality.

PM 2,5 memiliki lebar sekitar 2 sampai 1,5 mikron. Ukurannya ini membuatnya 30 kali lebih kecil dibanding lebar rambut manusia. The PM2.5 concentration levels can be volatile and tend to fluctuate over the day especially during periods of transboundary haze. Short-term fluctuations are greatly influenced by weather conditions.

To put things into perspective, human hair has a diameter of 50-70 µm and a grain of sand has a diameter of 90 µm. When someone talks about PM 10 they are referring to particles smaller than 10 µm.

What is the Difference between a PM2.5 Monitor and a PM10

The intensive PM sampling protocol was consecutively conducted for forty-eight hours. During the sampling periods, PM2.5 and PM2.5–10 were simultaneously measured 2020-08-19 The objective of this research paper is to describe the system architecture for an urban roadside automatic mist-generating system. Its primary purpose is to mitigate particulate matter especially PM2.5–10. In this paper, four graphs are provided to exhibit the constituent elements of this system.

Aren't PM smaller than 2.5 micro included in PM smaller than 10 micro?
